🌱Garden at Gateway

Programs

The Gateway garden offers students multiple ways to get involved. Garden Class gives students hands-on experience with growing food, caring for plants, and learning practical gardening skills. Students can also come to the garden during Flex C to volunteer, learn, and help with projects. For students who want to take on a deeper role, the Gateway Garden Stewardship Program offers a service and leadership pathway focused on caring for, improving, and helping shape the future of the garden over time.

Leadership Opportunity

Garden Stewardship Program

The Gateway Garden Stewardship Program is a selective student service and leadership program for students who want to help care for, improve, and sustain the school garden over time. Through weekly work, leadership, and long-term projects, students earn community service hours, build valuable experience, and play a meaningful role in shaping the future of the garden.

How to Join

Students can apply during the annual application cycles in late April or early November. Garden Stewards are open to students after their first semester of high school, and prior experience in garden class or garden club is recommended but not required. Students interested in higher leadership roles should have deeper garden involvement and a strong record of stewardship.
